Tribute to a Dedicated Soldier

As Morning Glory Ministries joins the
nation in observing Veterans Day, we
want to pay special tribute to a special
soldier, Pastor Russell E. Medley, Jr.

He is currently the Senior Pastor of the
Scotts Run Community Church aka St.
Stephen Baptist Church.  He is also
the co-founder and spiritual leader  of
Morning Glory Ministries.  His gift as a
community activist and entrepreneur
has been instrumental and continues
to make a difference in the Scotts Run
Community.

His military career spanned 20 years.
On October 31, 1973, he enlisted in
the United States Air Force.  His
military journey began.  Pastor Medley
completed boot camp at Lackland
AFB, TX.  He received technical
training at Shepherd Air Force Base,
TX as a Telephone Switching
Equipment Repairman/
Electro-Mechanical Specialist and
Quality Control Inspector.  Upon
completion of his training he was
assigned to 1972 Communications
Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, from
1974 - 1978.

He was assigned to the Detachment 6,
1961st Communications Group,
Wallace Air Station, Republic of the
Philippines, as a Telephone Switching
Equipment Repair Specialist from
March 3, 1978 to February 26, 1979.

Upon his return to the States, Sgt
Medley  attended Officers Training
School in San Antonio TX and received
his commission as an officer
assigned to the 321st Strategic Missile
Wing, Grand Forks Air Force Base,
ND.  He became a missile combat crew
member filling key positions in both the
Operations and Maintenance
Deputates. He also served as an
Engineer in the 321st Engineering
Squadron.  He served in that capacity
from April 1979 to July 1985.

Capt. Medley served at  Vandenberg
AFB, CA where he was assigned to the
324th Test Maintenance Squadron
from August 1985 through October 31,
1993.

From Airman 1st Class to Air Force
Captain, thank you Pastor Medley for
having served faithfully and honorably
for twenty  years and one day.  We
pray that since your retirement from
the United States Air Force on the first
day of November one thousand nine
hundred and ninety three that your
peace, joy and happiness have been
like the capitol of Ireland, forever
Dublin.
While Pastor Medley served his country as an enlisted Airman and later as a
Commissioned Officer providing exceptional leadership and exemplary service,
he still found time to lead spiritually.  He and his wife founded the House of
Prayer Baptist Church, Emerado, ND.   Pastor Medley holds a BS Degree in
Music Education from A&T State University, Greensboro, NC, a Masters in
Religious Education from the International Bible Institute and Seminary, Orlando,
FL and currently is working on his doctorate from Liberty University, VA.
